Women-Owned Company Creating Equity in the Beverage Industry

March is Women's History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. In honor of this month, we want to highlight the incredible work of Sipping Black Only, a women-owned company that is creating equity in the beverage industry by providing a platform for Black-owned beverage brands and their founders to be uplifted while shifting popular culture to prefer products reflective of Black culture.

Founded by Demetra A. Harris, Brandi Neloms, and Julian Harris, Sipping Black Only is more than just a beverage company. It's a movement that envisions a day when Black-owned brands aren't limited to endcaps and retail promotion only during Black History Month. Black-owned beverage brands deserve shelf space, investment, and commercial success. And Sipping Black Only is demanding that change.

Sipping Black Only is intentionally elevating Blackness one cork, one pour, and one sip at a time. They are accomplishing this through promotion, celebration, and community. By promoting Black-owned beverage brands and their founders, they are shifting popular culture to prefer products reflective of Black culture. By celebrating these brands and their founders, they are uplifting Black voices and experiences. And by building a community around these brands and their founders, they are creating a space for Black entrepreneurs to thrive.

One of the most inspiring things about Sipping Black Only is their commitment to creating equity in the beverage industry. They are not just talking the talk; they are walking the walk. They have pledged 5% of their annual profits to be given as a cash grant to an emerging Black beverage brand owner who exhibits the potential to grow into a sustaining brand. This grant, known as the #SipBlack Emerging Entrepreneur Grant, is an incredible opportunity for Black entrepreneurs to receive the support they need to succeed.

In a world where Black-owned businesses are often overlooked and underfunded, Sipping Black Only is a beacon of hope. They are proving that when we intentionally elevate Blackness, we all benefit. By supporting Black-owned businesses, we are creating a more equitable and just society. And by celebrating the achievements and contributions of Black women like Demetra A. Harris and Brandi Neloms, we are honoring the legacy of women who have fought for equality throughout history.

So this Women's History Month, let's raise a glass to Sipping Black Only and all the incredible women who are creating change in the beverage industry and beyond. Let's support Black-owned businesses and the women who run them. And let's continue to demand equity and justice for all.
